BiographyAbout Rachel
Rachel Actis, MSEd, LCSW-R is a licensed therapist who enjoys working with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families from different backgrounds struggling with a variety of issues. Issues Rachel has worked with include stress management, life transitions, Parenting/new moms, anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, relationship, couple and family difficulties (divorce and separation), women’s issues, work concerns/school difficulties and trauma. Rachel knows the importance of tuning into each client and understanding who they are as an individual and working in a way and at a pace that feels right to them. Rachel wants her clients to see themselves as active participants in therapy. She sees therapy as a unique opportunity to explore new ways of looking at thoughts, feelings and experiences and practicing new behaviors while utilizing a client’s strengths and methods applicable to each client with whom she works. She understands starting therapy can be intimidating and seeks to make her clients feel as comfortable as possible. Clients find Rachel to be warm, a good listener, understanding and nonjudgemental. Rachel has a masters in psychological services from university of Pennsylvania and a masters in clinical social work from Fordham university. She works within a relational model of therapy while incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, psychodynamic theory, and systems theories as they apply to each person/couple. She has many years of experience in therapeutic and school settings. Rachel is available for individual, group, couples and family work.
