BiographyAbout Crystal
Crystal Idaspe LCSW-R, is a psychotherapist who works children, adolescents and adults. She specializes in the treatment of anxiety and other mood concerns, compulsive disorders, impulsivity, self-injury, low self-esteem, self-assertion problems, interpersonal or “people problems”, and the many challenges associated with childhood trauma. One of her strengths is working with individuals for whom trusting and connecting may feel unsafe. Additionally, Crystal prides herself with her ability to connect with children and teens of all personalities. Crystal is able to reach even the “most difficult to reach” children and teens and create life-lasting changes. Crystal’s professional experience as both a clinician and clinical supervisor in outpatient mental health clinics, hospitals, and private practice, has provided her with the opportunity to treat clients facing a broad range of issues from clients in crisis or with persistent mental illness to clients needing help adjusting to a life transition. Crystal endorses several therapeutic paradigms to correspond to the needs of the individual client. She is experienced in psychodynamic psychotherapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), and incorporates teaching and solution-focused work as indicated. She strongly believes in the power of the therapeutic alliance, and in the capacity for a strong relationship to promote a client’s healing, growth, and the achievement of goals. It is paramount for Crystal to be deeply attuned and present in session with her clients, wherever they may be with whatever they bring. She is warm, curious, wholly accepting, and devoted to appreciating and fully grasping the uniqueness of each of her clients. Crystal earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from Fordham University and her Master’s of Social Work degree from New York University. She is licensed to practice Clinical Social Work in the State of New York.
