BiographyAbout Tima
Tima Hambleton, LMSW is a psychotherapist who works with adolescents, new parents, couples and adults. Tima has extensive experience working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions (starting college or new parenting), eating disorders/Body Dysmorphia, adolescent struggles and emotional dysregulation and self-harm. Tima has a strong interest in working with the BIPOC community as well as helping individuals process racial trauma. Ms. Hambleton has been trained extensively in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and infuses the teaching of these important skills in both her individual and group work with clients: (mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness). Tima utilizes motivational interviewing, cognitive behavior therapy, and dialectical behavior therapy to help individuals reach their therapeutic goals and create a life worth living! Tima’s professional experience in the field includes working at mental health agencies, correctional facilities, psychiatric hospitals and private practice. Tima’s vast experience has provided her with an in-depth understanding of many different populations and cultures which allows her the unique ability to connect with a variety of clientele. Tima’s style is compassionate, warm, and non-judgmental. She works to empower individuals to see their inner strength and build resilience in the face of stressors. Ms. Hambleton is a graduate of Columbia University School of Social Work, where she completed a year of intensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy through Behavioral Tech. Tima completed her DBT internship at Riker’s Island and has continued to work therapeutically with the incarcerated and justice involved community.
