Biography
About Kym Kym Brown, LMSW, is a licensed psychotherapist who works with children, adolescents and adults. Kym has extensive experience helping clients overcome anxiety, depression, school related difficulties, peer conflict, trauma, substance abuse and life transitions. Kym takes an eclectic approach to her work by applying a variety of interventions to include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), attachment-based, relational and psychoanalytic theory, which she tailors to meet individual client needs. Kym is known for being supportive, goal-oriented and patient. She believes that every individual is unique and collaborates with her clients to create treatment goals that reflect this individuality. Kym is intentional and strategic in supporting clients on their path to achieving these goals. “My priority is always to put the client first, and it is essential that your willingness and dedication to the process of change are present for lasting transformation. This journey requires your commitment, and in return, we will explore different therapy techniques as well as homework and various exercises, to support your growth. I will encourage you to identify your boundaries and challenge you to engage in new ways of thinking, with a focus on recognizing your triggers and developing healthier coping strategies.” As a psychotherapist, Kym is committed to providing quality care and firmly believes that, with the right support, anyone can thrive and achieve mental, physical, and emotional well-being. Kym is here to guide and support her clients every step of the way. Kym has 15 years of experience in counseling, supervision, and advocacy from her work in schools and community-based mental health agencies. She received her MSW from Fordham University and holds additional training in Psychoanalysis from the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Training Institute for Mental Health. Kym is a licensed master social worker in the state of NY.
