BiographyAbout Kheri
Kheri Joyce LMSW, is a licensed psychotherapist with extensive experience working with children, adolescents, adults and families. Kheri has worked in the mental health field as an LMSW for the past 10 years. Kheri started her social work career as a school counselor where she worked for 3 years with students ages 5-18 diagnosed with mental health disorders and/or environmental challenges. I.e., depression, anxiety, anger management/behavioral issues, ASD, ADHD, self-esteem, peer issues and stress management. Kheri enjoys working with children and their families to ensure they are getting the best care they need as they enter the challenging period of adolescence. Having a school social work background, Kheri brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and understanding of the issues children, teens and parents face in today’s schools. Kheri believes strongly in a collaborative approach and the importance of parental involvement when working with children and teens. Kheri’s therapy style is warm, attentive and inviting. Her practice utilizes a variety of therapy modalities and methods for solving problems and clinical assessments through evidence-based treatment interventions. Kheri is a firm believer in creating a safe space for her clients in order to build a successful therapeutic relationship. Kheri is passionate about increasing understanding and decreasing stigma related to mental health. She considers herself an advocate for those who feel they do not have a voice. A personal theory Kheri takes into consideration as a therapist is “we are not responsible for our traumas, but we are accountable for our healing.” By creating a safe environment to work on one’s life challenges, it requires engagement, positive rapport, and being a great listener even in a silent therapy session. Kheri brings all this and more to each and every client with whom she works. Kheri is a Licensed Master Social Worker in the state of New York.
