Biography About Jean Jean Nastasi, LMSW is a Psychotherapist who works with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. Jean practices from a strength-based, client-centered perspective focusing on meeting each client’s unique needs. Jean integrates a variety of treatment modalities and techniques including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), Acceptance-Commitment Therapy (ACT), psychodynamic, play therapy, relational, solution-focused, trauma-focused and more, to best suit each individual or family system. The idea that people are experts on their own lives is the cornerstone of Jean’s work. Her approach is that of a “person in their environment” perspective; and therefore, utilizes a variety of methods and tools to provide support and safety for all clients and families. Jean has acquired a wealth of knowledge, experience and training from her many years of practice in community mental health agencies and private practices. She specializes in the treatment of ADHD/behavioral issues, autism spectrum disorder, academic underachievement, learning disabilities, anxiety, depression, substance abuse disorders, LGBTQ/gender identity and questioning, body image and disordered eating, low self-esteem, PTSD, trauma, relationship issues/divorce, life transitions and loss. Additionally, Jean has a special interest in working with parents and families as it allows her to provide a holistic, systemic view, addressing problems by improving communication, resolving conflict, strengthening relationships and modifying unhealthy behavioral patterns within the entire family unit. Jean has a warm and inviting personality and has a true knack for connecting with clients of different ages and populations. She believes strongly in social justice and is an advocate for equity for all individuals with whom she works. Jean creates a space that is non-judgmental, radically accepting and employs appropriate boundaries to ensure her clients feel safe, comfortable and heard. Jean received her MSW from New York University and is a licensed master social worker in the state of NY.
